Hockey Bag FAQs

What size hockey bag do I need?
Size depends on your equipment size (youth, junior, intermediate, senior), and how much extra gear you carry.

How do I measure my current hockey bag to compare sizes?

Lay it flat and measure length x width x height (in inches). Compare these measurements to the posted product specs when shopping.

How do I find my current hockey bags internal volume?
Multiply your bag length x width x height, which equals your internal volume in cubic inches. Divide this value by 61.024, which will convert the value to Liters.

What types of hockey bags are there?
The main types of hockey bags are: Carry, Wheeled, Backpack, and Goalie. Each with varying sizing and dimensions to hold player and goalie gear.

What's the best hockey bag for a beginner or first-time player?
A basic carry bag is the most affordable and a good starting point, offering one main compartment to store gear.

How long does a hockey bag last?
With regular use (3-5 times a week), a good quality hockey bag can last 3-6+ years. For the best durability, hockey bags made of Tarpaulin will offer very long-lasting use.

Are there hockey bags specifically made for goalies?
Yes, goalie bags are much larger and are usually offered in sizes 40"—44", which offer room for bulkier gear like leg pads, chest protector, and goalie pants.

Do brands have different sizing?
While length sizes are fairly standardized (e.g., 30", 32", 36"), width, height, compartments, and features will vary by brand.

Should I get a wheeled hockey bag or carry bag?
Wheeled bags are easier to transport to and from the rink, especially if you store lots of gear. Carry bags are lighter, easier to maneuver, and fit better in tighter spaces like smaller locker rooms or car trunks.

How do I keep my hockey bag from smelling?
Always remove your gear after use to air it out, and use deodorizer sprays while keeping the bag well ventilated. You can also wipe down the hockey bag with warm, soapy water to help kill bacterial growth.
